CNC G10 FR4 Material Machining And Fabrication

 CNC FR4 G10 Machining

What Is Garolite G10/FR4?

Garolite G10/FR4 is one of the most versatile and widely used thermoset glass-reinforced laminate. It is made from an alkali-free electrical glass cloth that has been impregnated with an epoxy resin under the pressure and heat. The resulting glass-epoxy laminate is incredibly stable over temperature level with low-moisture absorption and a high strength-to-weight ratio. It is typically utilized in applications that requiredimensional stability, longevity, and resistance to humidity. It is made use of throughout a vast array of electric and mechanical applications.

JY Machinery can process G10/FR4 in a range of shapes and configurations to fulfill the requirements of your project.

CNC Machining FR4 G10 Material

Garolite parts can have typical characteristics such as a threaded hole that is ground rather than tapped. The external thread is turned on a lathe, or the thread is ground instead of using a mold. This is because if sufficient heat and pressure are generated parallel to the die, the laminate material is at risk of delamination.

JY Machinery, a leading manufacturer of customized Garolite machined components. We provide FR4 G10 drilling, milling, and machining services to either cut to size to or machined to your CAD drawings.  From 5-axis machining centers to routers, we can quickly and easily cut your G10 FR4 to your exact specifications. The G10 FR4 sheet can be CNC machined to +-. 002" tolerance. And more accurate tolerances can be provided upon request.

The Surface Finish of G10 FR4 parts

Garolite parts are usually finished with a smooth touch, with a matte surface. Depending on the cutting path, the texture of the material can be obvious. In particular, due to the gradual transition of the cross section between layers, the texture of the anti-groove will appear lighter than other parts. G-10 FR4 part will not hold polished without secondary coating.

Other Garolite Phenolics

G10/FR4 is just one of the phenolic laminates we work with. Other Garolite materials available for your project include:

G5/G9 This basic purpose quality phenolic material is recognized for its woven glass melamine resin.

G7 This phenolic alternative includes a woven glass silicone resin and, consequently, is a general function quality material.

G11-FR5 G11 materials feature a commercial fibre glass composite laminate and an epoxy resin binder. The additional designation of FR5 indicates that this is the brominated, fire resistant variation of routine G11 materials.

GPO-1 This particular phenolic material is comprised of an arbitrary weave glass that is coupled with a polyester resin. It is taken into consideration to be a general purpose grade material.

GPO-3This is really comparable to GP01 because it additionally includes a random weave glass, however it is coupled with polyester-- not a polyester resin. It, also, is a basic function quality material.

If you’d like to find out more information about these or other related CNC phenolics terms, or if you just have additional questions you’d like to discuss with someone in a bit more detail, please don’t delay – contact JY Machinery today.

Potential Applications

The characteristics of G10/FR4 make it an ideal choice for complex and high-precision electrical insulator sub-projects. Electrical insulators limit the flow of current and provide protection for those who come into contact with them, while ensuring circuit integrity and product structural integrity.

Some of the many products that use G10/FR4 material include:

  • Terminal boards
  • Washers
  • Sleeves
  • Structural components
  • Cryogenic components
  • Wear applications
  • Electrical applications
  • PCBs – Printed circuit boards
  • Power generation
  • G10 knife handles
  • G10 gun handles
  • G10 grip materials

The polishing treatment methods for alumina ceramics

It has become very common for thick film integrated circuits to use   alumina ceramics . Ceramic materials mainly made of alumina (Al2O3) have good conductivity, mechanical strength and high temperature resistance. It is a widely used ceramic at present. However, after the alumina ceramic is sintered and cooled, it does not mean the end of product processing. Some products do not meet the application requirements. Therefore, they need to be processed, such as size correction and polishing. The polishing treatment method of alumina ceramics is as follows: 1. Using laser processing and ultrasonic processing for grinding and polishing. 2. Use Al2O3 powder or diamond paste for grinding and polishing. 3. The method of glazing is required (suitable for products that require high surface smoothness). 4. Use diamond, silicon carbide, etc. harder than alumina to grind step by step from coarse to fine. 5. The surface of the material is processed by ion implantation. Ion implantation...

The solution of bubble issue during injection molding process

According to the causes of bubbles, the countermeasures are as follows: (1) When the wall thickness of the product is large, the cooling speed of its external surface is faster than that of the central plastic part. Therefore, as the cooling goes on, the resin at the central part shrinks and expands towards the surface, resulting in insufficient filling at the central part. This condition is called a vacuum bubble. Solutions mainly include: A) Determine the reasonable gate and gate size according to the wall thickness. Generally, gate height shall be 50% ~ 60% of the wall thickness of the product. B) Until the gate is sealed, a certain amount of supplementary injection material is left. C) The injection time should be slightly longer than the gate sealing time. D) Reduce the injection speed and increase the injection pressure; E) Use materials with high melt viscosity. 2) The bubbles caused by the production of volatile gases are mainly solved as follows: A) Sufficient pre-drying...

The application range of sandblasting treatment

Sandblasting is the process of cleaning and roughening the substrate surface by the impact of high-speed sand flow. Use compressed air as the power to form a high-speed jet beam to spray the blasting material (copper ore, quartz sand, corundum, iron sand, Hainan sand) at high speed on the surface of the workpiece to be processed, so that the appearance or shape of the outer surface of the workpiece surface changes. (1)  Workpiece coating and sandblasting before workpiece bonding can remove all dirt such as rust on the surface of the workpiece, and establish a very important basic pattern on the surface of the workpiece (the so-called rough surface). By changing the abrasives with different particle sizes, the roughness of different degrees is achieved, which greatly improves the binding force of the workpiece with coatings and plating materials. Or make the adhesive bond more firm and better quality. (2)  The rough surface of the casting, the cleaning and polishing of t...
